CATHOLIC LIFE

Catholic Life & Mission

Catholic Life & Mission

INtroduction

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, North Shields, our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do. We are a community built on love, trust and respect, striving to ensure that every child grows not only academically, but spiritually, emotionally and morally. Our mission is to guide each child to develop a strong sense of identity, compassion for others and a living relationship with God.

Faith in Action

We encourage children to put their faith into practice through acts of kindness, service to others and a genuine commitment to living out the Gospel values. Through charitable initiatives, community outreach, fundraising and daily acts of care, pupils learn that faith is something active — something that changes lives and makes the world better.

Prayer & Liturgy

Prayer is woven into the rhythm of school life. Opportunities for prayer and reflection are offered daily, helping pupils to develop a personal relationship with God. Our liturgies, masses and assemblies are joyful and reverent moments of community worship, where children, staff and parents come together to celebrate our faith as the family of St Joseph’s.

Mini Vinnies

Our Mini Vinnies group embodies servant leadership in action. Inspired by the values of St Vincent de Paul, the children identify ways to support those in need both locally and globally. They organise charity appeals, raise awareness of social issues, and demonstrate that even the smallest actions — performed with love — can make a big difference.

Eco Club

As stewards of God’s creation, our Eco Club leads the way in promoting caring responsibility for the environment. Children learn about sustainability, ecological responsibility and respect for the natural world. Through practical initiatives such as recycling, gardening and energy awareness, pupils recognise that caring for our planet is a vital part of our Catholic mission.
